You just can’t throw out ridiculously expensive jeans when they get a hole or tear. This is what happened to me and my most comfortable pair of J Brands. I couldn’t demote them to ‘house pants’ status, plus, the hole was cold. So my sewing machine and I were off to the rescue!
It’s a pretty easy fix! Basically you just need to choose some thread in a similar shade to your jeans and sew zigzag vertical lines over the hole. You want to start with a thin zigzag just to hold it together and then keep going back and forth until there is no sign of the tear left.
After researching how to repair jeans I found that this method works best. It is suggested that you use interfacing on the inside of the jeans before you sew it together but that would absolutely drive me insane (especially since it’s in the crotch).
I’ve washed and worn these multiple times since their surgery and I really can’t tell that there’s anything there! They are holding up really well too. It’s also really satisfying knowing that I’ve given new life to my well worn jeans.
