DIY TASSEL JUMPER

MELBOURNE

Confetti Avenue by Charlotte Hartwell: DIY Tassel Jumper

The first thought I had when I saw this jumper outside PFW was where can I buy this! then, when I realised she had Givenchy boots, I figured the jumper’s probably a similar price so I changed my thinking to how can I make this?!

After a bit of research I found the jumper is by the Russian brand A La Russe from their Pre-Fall 2014 collection (also seen here) and, of course, no where to be purchasable.

YOU WILL NEED

STEP ONE The first thing you want to do is cut off all the loops from the tassels. All 100 of them.

STEP TWO Now, to measure out where you want to top line of tassels to be, pop on the jumper and pin the main points. Wearing a bra actually really helps with this process: the middle pin should be at the centre of your bra, and the next pin generally follows the shape of the cup. Make sure the pin on the sleeve is slightly lower.

STEP THREE Use a fabric pencil to sketch out the shape trying really hard to keep it even on both sides (you want to do this to the back as well).

STEP FOUR Lay out your tassels evenly and start sewing them on! Once they're all attached sew on a second row a few centimetres below the first and in between the gaps. Don't forget to do the back too!

I loved the whole look from PFW so I wore the jumper with some black jeans and long black boots – makes the gold tassels really stand out too.
