Lancome is a brand that I’ve always admired. I think it has to do with the smell. When I was little I thought the products smelled very grown up and ladylike and so I still think of it as a very sophisticated brand. But my favourite part has got to be that the mascaras smell amazing! Mascara is a product that just never smells nice but somehow Lancome actually makes me want to smell it!
I was kindly given a little pack of some Lancome products to try: some of the things I already love and some I’ve never tried before. They all come in a very purple makeup bag (which is standard for these kinds of sets) and it has a cute Eiffel Tower on the zip!
Hypnose Star Mascara. Of course, I have to start with my favourite. Many girls would agree that Lancome make the holy grail of mascara formulas. I have never met a Lancome mascara that I didn’t love. What I particularly love is the fact that it is a very wet mascara so you can really work it into your eyelashes and apply it just right before it starts to dry. Straight away you’d think it sounds really clumpy but it isn’t! I don’t understand how they’ve done it but Lancome have created a mascara that applies very thick and wet, yet also so smooth. It has a very interesting brush shape as it is quite short and flat on one side long and thick on the other. Not only is the brush designed to create volume, but also to create a liner effect with more product deposited at the lash line.
La Vie Est Belle Parfum. First off, it’s a mini perfume bottle! This cute size is the perfect handbag companion and I love the fact that it’s the same design as the full size bottle. I love rollerballs but sometimes I find that they just don’t roll out enough perfume and you end up scrubbing at your skin, so this little droplet applicator makes everything easier. It’s quite a strong scent which is definitely enhanced by the fact that it is parfum rather than toilette. It’s incredibly long lasting, strong, and powerful but it has a sweet and delicate fragrance. It’s a very sophisticated and womanly scent.
Rénergie Multi-Lift. I’d never tried this before but again it just confirms for me why I love Lancome for their skincare. It’s a non greasy, light weight, and hydrating cream that also has SPF15. It has quite a strong fragrance but I find that it is really soothing and calming. It’s a thick cream so I found it surprising at how quickly it absorbs into my skin. Although it’s a skin-firming, anti-wrinkle cream, I primarily noticed how smooth it makes my skin and how healthy it feels.
Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate. I really appreciate a good facial serum so I was very keen to try this out. I was surprised at how gel-like the texture is but once you start to rub it into your skin it melts in, and it doesn’t feel like you have anything on your face. Unlike the other products, this one basically has no scent. I think it smells lightly of the ingredients, so I’d say it smells like it’s doing a good job! I think this is one of those products that you need to use for a long time before you see the results as it’s supposed to effect the ‘ten signs of youth: texture, resiliency, elasticity, firmness, sagginess, fine lines, wrinkles, radiance, clarity, and skintone’. In the short time that I used the serum I definitely noticed an effect on radiance and skintone but it also may be due to all the other Lancome bits and pieces I was testing!
Tonique Douceur. This is 100% on my purchase list. I’m obsessed with the cleanser from the same range so it makes sense to get the toner as well. I’ve tried this before and love how cool and refreshed it makes my skin feel. It’s alcohol free so it doesn’t feel like it strips your skin – it actually makes it feel more hydrated. It has a mild summery-fresh scent too (which I know well as I just went to sniff it and threw some on my jumper). I find that a lot of toners tend to make my skin feel really tight and dry but this is one of the few that doesn’t which is why it is very high up on my wish list right now.
