LOOFAH GIRL

MELBOURNE

Confetti Avenue by Charlotte Hartwell: Loofah and Soap Couples Costume DIY

I recently went to a party where the theme was twins and pairs. Having been to many costume parties before I was looking for something different, easy, and inexpensive. I finally came across the perfect couples costumes that suited all these requirements; I’d go as a loofah, and my boyfriend as a bar of soap!

I spent $22 on 6 metres of netting and 1 metre of ropey stuff. All I did was sew up a tube dress from some stretchy fabric I had lying around (although it would be even easier to use an actual tube dress), bunch up the fabric to cover the dress, and sew it to the dress in handfuls! I cut the netting in half and worked on one side at a time. Then all I did was sew on the rope!

For my boyfriends costume, we cut out the letters S O A P in blue felt and sewed them to a white T-shirt. Then we sewed clumps of bubble wrap to the T-shirt to make it look all lathered up!

We were a great hit at the party, even getting a special mention for having such fabulous costumes!
