Yesterday I had the pleasure of touring the brand spanking new Mecca Maxima store at Westfield Doncaster!

First stop, Mecca Maxima. This store is huge. I get excited when I go to the store in Westfield Southland (at least once a week) as there is always something new to play with. But this is like maxima Mecca Maxima!

On my trip around the store we talked about how it is set up and how the whole concept of the store is very much help yourself. They have sweet little shopping baskets (I want one) for you to fill with whatever you want as all the products are accessible on the shelves. But if you do want help, the staff have the answers to all your questions and can colour match and teach you tricks! I don’t think I have ever gone into a store without talking to one of the girls about a product and I always come out having learnt something new.

(For all of my impatient makeup-loving friends out there, I asked one of my lovely tour guides about how quickly Mecca gets products in after they’re released overseas – only about a week!)

Next stop, Mecca Cosmetica. I’ve never really been to a Cosmetica store so it was great to explore the differences between them. Cosmetica is more about high-end and exclusive skincare and makeup. I got to sit down and have a great demonstration of a brand that I’ve always admired but knew little about: Chantecaille.

First of all I just love saying the word. Chantecaille. I tried an absolutely beautiful primer which has immediately jumped onto my wish list. All of the primers that I’ve used in the past have felt quite thick and silicony, but this one just felt so light and fresh. I also tried foundation, concealer, pressed powder, blush, and liquid highlight and bronzer. Liquid products often scare me because of how patchy they can get but both of these just blended flawlessly into the rest of my foundation.

But what I really liked was the Nars Smudge Brush (#45). It’s a very dense and short brush that’s great for applying highlight to the inner eye corners.

Westfield Doncaster is the only place where there is both a Mecca Maxima and Mecca Cosmetica. So if you can’t find what you’re looking for in one store you just walk 100 metres around the corner and there’s the other!

After I spent an hour checking out the stores and chatting to the girls about our favourite brands and products, they were kind enough to let me to pick a couple of things to take home! I chose the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Pink Quartz which has been on my wish list for years and years, and also the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette. It’s borderline creepy the number of times I have opened this palette just to smell its chocolatey goodness but this is what happens to when you combine two of my favourite things!

Thank you very much to the girls at Mecca for a super fun afternoon!
