After hearing about Lily Pebbles’ amazing scrapbook that she kept over 2014, I went mad scouring every corner of the internet and craft stores tracking down everything I needed. And by ‘everything I needed’ I mean entirely way too much.

I discovered scrapbooking about 7 years ago and loved it. Then, after a 6 week holiday with my mum to Europe, I made the ridiculous commitment to scrapbook the whole thing. This meant sticking together pretty pages with every photo we took, every souvenir napkin we stole, and every soggy map together in carefully assembled layouts. I am pleased to inform you that these albums (all four) were completed. Last week.

It is exhausting cutting, pasting, sticking, planning, layering, trimming everything that you really lose sight of what you’re actually doing. You’re trying to preserve wonderful memories but all you feel like doing is giving up and throwing everything into a box.

Project Life changes everything! It’s like a cross between a scrapbook and a photo album. There are different kinds of 12×12 of plastic pockets which have different sized inserts for photos and decorations. It simplifies it enough by only giving you space enough to put a whole photo into, but it gives you the flexibility of decorating things if you want.

Basically you buy an album, pockets, and a core kit. This kit comes full of pretty cards with different designs that slot nicely in the different size inserts. You can use these to simply add decoration or you can write on them to make notes about what you did in the photos or particular events.

I’ve just started my album and it’s so satisfying being able to just slot everything in without having to cut anything! I’ve been wanting to do something with my photos for ages so I can’t wait to see how my album looks by the end of the year. I’ll keep you posted with how it all goes!
